Why live in the past and serve a future-oriented God?

hislove

In this world we will experience trials, adversity, and rejection from others.

Rejection is the most painful of all emotions and often most damaging to our sense of self-worth and self-love.

How can we love ourselves when we don’t feel the love of others?

God tells us many times in His word that His love for us unfailing. If everyone in this world rejects you, your Heavenly Father never will. In fact, He is totally incapable of ever hurting you or letting you down. He promises to love you unconditionally and He accepts you exactly for who you are. After all, He created you to be exactly, perfectly you.

“The Lord always keeps His promises; He is gracious in all He does.” Psalm 144:13

It’s even more important, as God’s children, never to reject ourselves. It’s easy to feel bound by sin and the ties of our pasts. However, we serve a God that only looks at our future. When God sees you, He does not judge you by your past. He only seeks to give you a beautiful future.

“I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on Him. I have put my hope in His word… for with the Lord, there is unfailing love. His redemption overflows.” Psalm 130:5/7

Your worth is not based on what you’ve done, or even how other people see you. You were worth dying on a cross for and you will always be worthy of a beautiful life, as promised by the King of the universe.

The beginning of an amazing journey!

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?” Isaiah 43:19

Wow! I can’t believe it has been a year since Love Lifted High was started!
I vividly remember reading the Word of God and feeling led to embark on this journey. When God gave me the idea to begin this blog, I immediately wanted the name Love Lifted High. I prayed about it, making sure it wasn’t just a “whim,” and that this was really something God wanted me to pursue.

At that moment, the song “Came to my rescue” by Hillsong started playing on the radio. I had never heard it before then, but here are some of the lyrics:

“I called, You answered.
And you came to my rescue and I want to be where You are.
In my life, be lifted high
In our world, be lifted high
In my love, be lifted high!”

Well, I took that as the final “push” I needed, and never looked back!

It means everything to me when people comment, telling me how this blog as helped them in some way. I have seen the way people have been encouraged and blessed by God’s word. Seeing Him move in my life and the lives of others is such a wonderful experience, and one I am thankful for every single day.

Thanks everyone for your support so far and I pray that God blesses you today and every day.
You are loved.

Writer’s Block and God’s Grace

phonto (11)

Hello, my sweet friends!

I have to apologize for my recent hiatus. I’ve been suffering a particularly bad stroke of writer’s block and have been too dissatisfied with my recent writing attempts to actually post any.

During my break, however, I realized something.

Writer’s block stemmed by fears of inadequacy, like anything else in life, can be cured with a new shift in perspective. Why do I write, really? I write because I love it, but I also write because I want to please the Lord.

While I hold myself to a certain high standard, He only holds me to my best.

Ultimately, whose opinion is it that matters? Sure, I want all of you to appreciate what I write. I want to inspire you, share with you my journey with God, and strengthen yours. More than anything, though, I  want to stand before God and see Him smile at me for the work I’ve done.

Do everything as if you are doing it for the Lord. Colossians 3:23 tells us “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”

Take pride in everything you do, because ultimately, everything matters when you do it for Him. No matter where you work or what you do, do it to your best ability and make God proud.

Nothing in your life is ever random, just like nothing in your life is ever too insignificant to matter to God, as long as you do it for Him.

Today, friends, do your absolute best, make God proud, and have an awesome day.

Nobody believes in you more than your Maker.

The Unstoppable love of Christ

unstoppable love

Friends, the demands of this life can often become overwhelming. Fortunately, you have a Heavenly Father that is always on your side! He is for you because He loves you.

Jesus’ death and resurrection not only allowed us to receive the gift of eternal salvation; it also shows the depth of His power and love. He was able to conquer the grave. He was victorious over death. Our LIVING Savior is the ultimate proof that nothing is ever too great for Him to handle. Nothing is bigger than our God! He is always in control, even over the things that otherwise seem so impossible.  No circumstance is too great for the living God to take care of.

You have been redeemed by the blood of Christ. If Jesus can beat death to show His love for you, there is nothing in the world He won’t do for you.
His love is unstoppable.

You are an inspiration!

“Tell the nations what He has done! Let them know how mighty He is! Sing to the Lord, for He has done wonderful things! Make known His praise around the world!” Isaiah 12:4

Anyone who has experienced the incredible, unbreakable love of God knows how good it feels to watch Him as He works in your life. Your Father is constantly working out circumstances in your life for your good and His glory!

Nothing in your life is accidental; no circumstance is random. Your story is special and perfect because it is God’s way of molding you into the spiritually mature, successful Christian He knows you can be. No one believes in you more than Christ, the One who died so that YOU may live in triumph.

Never be afraid to share with others just what God is doing in your life. Your testimony has been designed especially for you so that you can encourage others in their faith. Nothing about it is ever too small or inadequate. Sharing the goodness of God is something that can often seem small but makes a big difference in the lives of those around you. You are important, triumphant, and inspiring simply by living your life for the Lord and sharing it with others.

You have been delivered, redeemed, and adopted as royalty.

Sharing your story is a way of showing the world a little piece of the greatness of Christ and His unfailing love.

Resolution for the People of Christ

Happy New Year, sweet friends!

I have never before made “real” New Year’s resolutions because I’ve always been in school and the “new year,” for me, thus began in August.

However, This January starts my final year in college and I’ve found myself looking forward to the actual New Year, not simply the fresh start of a new semester.

Admittedly, I have a pretty long list of resolutions for myself regarding 2015 and all the beautiful opportunities I am sure it holds. However, as I was making all of these goals for myself, God brought to me a few verses about my life and His involvement in it.

“I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.” Jeremiah 10:23

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Proverbs 16:9

God has a plan for me, you, and everyone else in the world, and we can rest easy knowing that as long as we walk in His will, only the best is in store for us. We can plan for our lives and make goals. In fact, God wants us to be ambitious and desire the best for ourselves. He values hard work and expects us to plan for a good future. He simply wants to remind us that, because we cannot see everything from beginning to end (as He does), we have to trust that His plans are greater, higher, wiser, and better for us than even our greatest desires. We can strive for what we see as best, but He will continually surprise us with something even better than that.

“Earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way.” 1 Corinthians 12:31

The greatest resolutions we can make, as children of God, cannot be found on a list of every little thing we hope to see in the year to come. It is to continually seek the will of the Lord and to look readily for the stepping stones He is laying in front of us.

“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

This year, I pray that you will be abundantly blessed with a heightened sense of God’s presence and work of the Holy Spirit in your life. May you seek His wisdom every morning, and go to bed at night with the understanding that the Sovereign of the universe is working on your behalf. He promises to crown your efforts with success and lead you along the right paths. I pray that through every trial you will feel God’s love all the stronger, understand every blessing as a gift from God, and allow the love of Jesus to shine through your heart to reach and bless everyone you meet. You are loved, you are accepted, and you have a wonderful plan waiting for you ahead.

Happy New Year!

A message from God

Sometimes it’s easy to forget just how close to you God longs to be.
He is constantly working in your life in order to guide you straight into something wonderful.

“O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest and not comforted, I will lay thy stones with fair colors and lay thy foundations with sapphires.” Isaiah 54:11

God promises to give you a beautiful life, despite whatever circumstances you feel dissatisfied with. His love for you is bigger than any uncertainty, trial, or doubt you can ever experience, and His presence will always be your stronghold and protection.

You are loved. You are worthy. You have been made flawless in His perfect eyes.

~Brittany ❤

Today, rejoice in this message from God:

Precious child,
You are loved more than you can understand. I will never leave you nor abandon you. If I seem silent, it’s because I want you to call out to me.
Be honest with me. I already know what is bothering you, and I am ready to fix it as soon as you trust me to. Come to me exactly as you are – you never have to be ashamed. I already know everything about you; I created you and love you for you. I am working on your behalf to give you the best life. Your circumstances are not random. They are molding you for My greater purpose, and if they are difficult, you don’t have to be afraid, because I am with you every step of the way.

All my love,
Dad

The beauty of trust

phonto (1)

If you are waiting on something amazing and don’t get it, that only means God’s plan is that much better.

Speaking in terms of my own life, I have been waiting to hear back about an internship I applied for a few weeks back. I hope not to sound conceited but a part of me just knew I was going to get it. It felt perfect – almost everything about it screamed that it was God’s will for me. Well, I got “the call” this morning from a very sweet professor of mine explaining that I didn’t, in fact, get either of the two internships I applied for.

The funny thing is, I didn’t even realize how badly I wanted to get one until I sat in my car, phone in hand, really disappointed and maybe even crying a little. Maybe.

Even though I don’t understand the reasons behind me not getting this internship, I know because of God’s amazing promises that He has something even better in store for me – I just don’t know what it is yet.

This weekend, when I was really stressed about the internship, He immediately gave me these two verses:

“[For everything there is a season], A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away.” Ephesians 3:6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Proverbs 3:5-6

God has a plan for every aspect of our lives. He is working on your behalf to give you the best life. Sometimes, even when we don’t want to, waiting on Him is one of the best experiences we can have, because we are blessed with the opportunity to look back and see just what He has done for us!

I know God has something even more perfect for me than this internship, and He has something amazing in store for you, too. All we have to do is simply trust Him and wait. He is acting on your behalf to bring you exactly what is best.

Be proud of your story.

If there’s anything worth sharing, it’s the beautiful story of your life and how God has worked in it.

“Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim His greatness. Let the whole world know what He has done. Sing to Him; yes, sing His praises. Tell everyone about His wonderful deeds.”
Psalm 105 1-2

There are so many awesome reasons to be happy, to love your life, and to rest in the knowledge that your loving Heavenly Father will always have your back.

Truthfully, there is never anything to be anxious about. The Lord knows and understands your worries, and is already leading you towards a beautiful end that will only leave you stronger in the process.

You are not alone.

You are loved.

You are a wonderful, precious, one-of-a-kind design, created by a perfect God that always has your best in mind.
